Faith Based Partners
The Second Annual Pastors Breakfast, sponsored by the St. Louis Regional Unbanked Task Force, was held on Thursday, March 12, 2015. With record breaking attendance this year, this networking breakfast connected faith-based leaders with financial institutions and community leaders who are working jointly to create long-term financial stability by removing barriers to banking and promoting wealth building among unbanked and underbanked households.
In support of Money Smart Week, Pastors will commit to delivering a Unified Message of Family Financial Empowerment on Sunday, April 19th. The purpose of the Unified Message is to draw statewide attention to the importance of working intentionally to support families in making solid financial decisions. With more than 100 individuals in attendance, we are excited about the collective impact that a unified message of financial empowerment will bring.
Together, we can create a strategy of financial empowerment for St. Louis families and continue to decrease the number of unbanked and under-banked households in the St. Louis area. To date, the work of the Task Force through its’ Bank-On Save-Up St. Louis Initiative has made over a $4 million dollar impact on the St. Louis economy, by providing financial education and removing barriers to opening bank accounts. “Having a bank account is often the first step to full participation in the financial mainstream, saving for future goals, purchasing a home, or wealth building, said Veta Jefferies.”
